Repriced, cancelled and cut to six cents: the smaller financings that did not go to plan

Not every junior financing this week was upsized. Three releases told a different story.
Canadian Gold Resources: repriced
Canadian Gold Resources (TSXV: CAN) repriced a non-brokered placement first announced on September 1, saying the change would "more accurately reflect the current market price" of its shares. The new terms are 1,481,482 shares at $0.0675, for up to $100,000.
Both buyers are directors of the company. The proceeds are for general working capital. The company holds three gold properties covering about 18,000 hectares on Quebec's Gaspé Peninsula.
Hertz Energy: cancelled
Hertz Energy (CSE: HZ) cancelled the non-brokered private placement it announced on September 15. No shares were issued and no subscription money was received. The company says it "continues to evaluate financing alternatives." Its projects include the Lake George antimony-tungsten-gold project in New Brunswick.
ATERRA Metals: resource first, then six cents
ATERRA Metals (CSE: ATC) announced a maiden inferred resource for its Totora copper-gold project in Chile on September 24: 159.8 million tonnes at 0.51% copper equivalent, made up of 0.30% copper and 0.15 grams per tonne gold, at a 0.2% copper cutoff.
Five days later it launched a brokered LIFE offering at $0.06 a share, for a minimum of $4 million and a maximum of $6 million, plus an agents' option for up to 15% more shares. That is between roughly 67 million and 100 million new shares before the option.
LIFE offerings are free trading from closing day, so there is no four-month hold on those shares. Closing is expected around October 14.
Why it matters
Repricing, cancellation and deep-volume raises are where dilution risk is easiest to see. A placement that has to be repriced lower, or that cannot find buyers at all, is information the share price does not always show right away.
