American Tungsten files its IMA report: 1,747 tonnes of WO3 indicated, the rest inferred
The Idaho mine produced tungsten from 1945 to 1957. The new report puts most of what is left in the inferred category and starts the restart plan with the tailings.

American Tungsten (TSXV: TUNG) filed a National Instrument 43-101 technical report for its IMA mine in Lemhi County, Idaho, on October 5. The report has an effective date of June 6, 2025, revised May 27, 2026.
Tungsten has become one of the most watched metals on the venture exchanges as Western governments look for supply outside China. That makes the confidence category of each tonne worth reading.
The resource
| Category | Tonnes | Grade | Contained WO3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Indicated, underground | 316,000 | 0.55% | 1,747 t |
| Inferred, underground | 2,178,000 | 0.55% | 11,933 t |
| Indicated, surface tailings | 267,000 | 0.15% | 413 t |
About 87% of the contained tungsten oxide in the underground estimate is inferred. The indicated part, the higher confidence part, is 1,747 tonnes.
The history
IMA sits on 22 patented claims. Between 1945 and 1957 it produced about 199,449 metric tonne units of WO3. One MTU is 10 kilograms, so that is roughly 2,000 tonnes of tungsten oxide over 12 years.
The plan
The company describes two phases. Phase I processes the surface tailings. Phase II rehabilitates the underground mine. It is also drilling and advancing engineering work.
Starting with tailings makes sense: they are already on the surface and need no mining. They are also the smallest and lowest grade part of the resource, at 413 tonnes of WO3.
What to watch
Drill results that convert inferred tonnes to indicated, and any study that puts a cost and a production rate on Phase I.
